A Matemateca, previamente chamada Centro de Difusão e Ensino Matemateca, do Instituto de Matemática e Estatística (IME), é responsável por planejar, desenvolver e produzir material para divulgação e ensino da matemática. Desde 2003, desenvolve-se um trabalho de planejamento e confecção de objetos interativos com apoio do IME, das Pró-Reitorias de Graduação e de Cultura e Extensão da USP e do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Esses objetos compõem um acervo didático que abrange várias áreas da matemática, abordando, inclusive, assuntos de pesquisas atuais. Parte do acervo está exposto nos corredores do IME. Eventualmente são realizadas exposições temporárias.

The Matemateca (The Mathematics Library), previously named the Center for the Dissemination and Teaching “Matemateca” of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME), is responsible for planning, developing, and producing material for the dissemination and teaching of mathematics. Since 2003, planning, development and production activities of interactive objects are being held with the support of IME, the provost offices for Undergraduate, Culture and Extension Programs of USP, and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). These objects make up the didactic collection that includes current research topics. Part of the collection is displayed along the IME hallways. Occasionally temporary exhibitions are held.
