O Arquivo Geral da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), desde sua fundação em 2008, é encarregado da organização e do armazenamento dos documentos permanentes da universidade. Dessa forma, a instituição é responsável por orientar a gestão documental de todas as unidades e órgãos da USP localizados na capital paulista, no interior e no litoral. Atualmente, reúne os acervos da Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas (FFLCH), do Departamento de Recursos Humanos, do Gabinete do Reitor, da Orquestra Sinfônica da USP e da Divisão de Comunicações Administrativas da Reitoria. O patrimônio recolhido dessas instituições é formado por documentos em papel, material magnético, digital e fotográfico e outros suportes. Além de salvaguardar esses documentos, também oferece palestras e treinamentos. Mantém uma exposição permanente que reproduz técnicas de registro e na qual são exibidos quadros sobre a formação da USP e seus documentos.

Since it was conceived in 2008, the General Archives of the USP has been in charge of organizing and storing the university’s permanent documents. Thus, the institution is responsible for managing documents from all departments and organizations at the USP, located in the city of São Paulo, the interior of the country, and on the coast. Today it brings together the collections of the School of Philosophy, Literature and Human Sciences, the Human Resources Department, the Office of the Dean, the USP Symphonic Orchestra, and the Management Communications Division of the President’s Office. What is collected from these institutions includes paper, magnetic, digital, and photographic documents and some on other supports. In addition to safeguarding these official papers, it also offers lectures and training workshops. It holds a permanent exhibition that reproduces recording techniques and displays information on the establishment of the USP and its documents.
